Zoo and Amusement Park

The Zoo and Amusement Park beloved also by children and adults make up the Great Forest Park of Culture being within a stone’s throw from our hotel. Founded back in 1958, the Zoo is a perfect opportunity for recreation for all guests interested in the world of animals. Besides the lions and the giraffes, one can watch the Nile hippopotamuses, the black-headed spider monkeys, the squirrels and the funny suricates, as well. In right connection with the Zoo, the Amusement Park awaits its guests with 17 toys including the Enchanted Castle, the Bumper Cars and the Big Wheel.

Békás Lake

Next to the Hotel, there is the renewed Békás Lake. If one walks around the lake in the freshness of the air, one almost forgets the world. The new Open-air Stage is also located here and offers a valuable entertainment venue in nice weather.

Water Tower

Right next to our hotel The Great Forest Water Tower awaits guests with superb amusement possibilities and various programs. The 34-meter-high observation tower not only offers a great view of the surrounding area but also features a special pair of binoculars to give a glimpse into the past. Besides the temporary exhibitions, music and thematic events and a cozy café, the 13-meter-high climbing wall invites everyone for active recreation. The experience is completed with a light show offered in the evenings.

Agora Science Centre

At Agora games and amusement is combined with education. Children and adults alike can get familiar with special equipment and scientific curiosities, being part of extraordinary and spectacular experiments. In the laboratories of the three-story modern building visitors can have a glance at physics, chemistry, medicinal biology, hydrobiology, botanics, environmental science and robotics and also have the chance to study spectacles of the night sky at the observatory. Agora offers fascinating presentations, film screenings and other colorful programs.

Botanical Gardens

The botanical garden is located behind the eclectic main building of the University of Debrecen. The beautiful french park in front of the building, inspired by Versailles, the Great Forest right next to it and the Botanical Gardens right behind embraces the renowned university building with the arms of nature. When having a walk in the Botanical Gardens, everyone can get familiar with different species of cacti, brilliant orchids and enourmus pines.

Sport Activities

The paths of the Great Forest deservedly became the favourite of joggers. Why do not you try these forest paths and listen to the singing of the birds during jogging, which is an unforgettable experience. Next door to the hotel, the sports centre in the Oláh Gábor Street is for runners who prefer the easily measurable distances and the all-weather running tracks. In the sports centre, an open-air gym and a basketball court are also there to serve the health of the people who want to train in sports. The roads and paths near our Hotel are perfect for everybody who would like to get to know the Great Forest leisurely while cycling. Would you like to explore the beauties of the city centre instead? It is no problem. The road from the Hotel to the city centre is full of beauty, making the trip to be a real experience, and the bicycle road network being denser and denser ensures the safety of cyclists.
